    Home Health Aides are licensed caregivers who are trained to care for the disabled and the elderly. If you live in Palm Beach Gardens and would like to hire a home health aide, be sure to ask the aide to show you their county badge. In Palm Beach County, Home Health Aides have to carry a county badge while working. The purpose of the badge is designed to promote safety for the elderly. The badge is an extra layer of protection where the home health aides have to register with Palm Beach County and submit a photo ID whether the aide works for a home care agency or works privately. Other home care personnel such as a registered nurse, certified nursing assistant, or licensed practical nurse are not required to obtain a badge.

    Palm Beach County Home Caregiver ID Badges

    The Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners enacted the Home Caregiver Ordinance in 2015 requiring ID Badges and Level 2 background checks of Home Caregivers to begin in 2016. The ordinance is enforced primarily by the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office and Consumer Affairs Investigators. ID Badges are issued by the Division of Consumer Affairs.

    Do the Home Health Aides (HHAs) or certified nursing assistants (CNAs) referred by Accountable Home Care know how to do CPR?

    CPR is required for all caregivers referred by Accountable Home Care, Inc. by the State of Florida.  Records of CPR training is maintained by our nurse registry.  A copy of the caregiver's CPR card (cardiopulmonary resuscitation)(CPR) certification from an instructor or training provider that is approved to provide training by the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, or the Health and Safety Institute stays in the caregiver's file.

    Can a Companion help with self administration of medicine?

    Home health aides (HHAs) and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) that are trained can only assist a client with medication in its previously dispensed, prescription labeled container or over-the-counter medication that has directions per State of Florida law. A Homemaker/Companion can only remind a client to take their medicine.
