Maximizing Long-Term Care Insurance with Home-Based Care
A majority of individuals who have purchased a long term care policy use their policy for in-home care versus a nursing home. The need for in-home care is not planned and unfortunately a number of individuals did not purchase a policy. For the individuals who invested in a long term care policy and paid annually for the coverage, using the policy does not have to be taxing nor create any unnecessary stress. At Accountable Home Care, we want you make sure you maximize time with a caregiver so you can continue to thrive in a safe, home environment.
Interesting Facts About In-Home Care
Roughly 52 percent of aging adults reaching 65 today will need in-home care services. Unfortunately of the 52 percent that will need home care, fewer than 10 percent of older adults have purchased a long term care insurance policy.
Currently more than 6 million older adults are considered to have a “high need” where they can benefit from in-home non-medical care.

What does Activities of Daily Living mean?
Activities of Daily Living and Senior Care
Activities of Daily Living is a term used when discussing care for the elderly or the disabled. Activities of daily living are duties a person needs to do in order to be safe. As we age, care may be required to help a family member or a patient called ADLs. ADLs are referred to as "activities of daily living" which includes bathing, dressing, continence, eating, toileting, and/or transferring.
Using a Long Term Care Policy for Personal Care Services
When a patient opens a claim with a long term care insurance company, care time sheets/notes must reflect activities of daily living as qualifiers. A change in medical condition often times requires a caregiver in a home for an elderly family member. At Accountable Home Care, we offer flexible hours designed to meet your lifestyle. Whether you need daily care or short term respite, Accountable Home Care in Palm Beach Gardens is here for you and your family.

Can a caregiver assist my father with his medication?
A licensed caregiver can remind a patient to take their medication. Under the State of Florida LPNs and RNs are able to administer medication and provide medication management. A home health aide or a certified nursing assistant can only remind a patient to take medications. A CNA or HHA cannot even fill a pill box. Often times a family member fills pill boxes or a spouse and then the caregiver just reminds them to take the medicine as instructed by the doctor.

We retained Accountable during a very emotionally trying period in our mother’s life after she became very ill and could no longer live alone. Accountable provided services to our mother for approximately 1 year. Although it is very difficult to bring a caregiver into the home of a person who has been independent for her entire life, Accountable was very sensitive to our mother’s needs and concerns. They worked with us to find professional, qualified caregivers to care for our mother. We would recommend Accountable to anyone in need of professional, qualified and sensitive caregivers for part-time or full-time care.
